Lowery
Begay, who grew up on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico,has been
dancing for a
very long time. He has traveled all over the world educating
people about American Indian culture. Teaching Native ways is
undoubtedly his calling. Lowery has performed with many well
known artists,and in 2004
he was the featured hoop dancer on Spirit the 7th Fire. He currently
holds the honor of being ranked
3rd in the world as a hoop dancer. Lowery is also a veteran
of the United States military.

Host drum for Spirit of Nations powwow will be Warriors' Path, a
Northern Style drum based in Kingsport, TN. Members include
lead singer Ben Sanchez, Lowery Begay, John Cox, Emerson Begay, Brandon
Sanchez, and Randall English. Four members of the group are from
the Navaho Nation. Most of them have been singing together and
traveling across the eastern United States for 14 years.

Mark and Sherry
Finchum will be telling Cherokee stories during the event. Mark
is an award winning social studies teacher, while Sherry, also an award
winning teacher, is director of curriculum and accountability for
Jefferson County schools. They established Indian Creek
Productions, Inc., in 1999 in an effort to teach American Indian
history and culture. Since that time, they have given
presentations at many schools, colleges, museums, and historic sites
around the country.

Robert "Redhawk"
Eldridge is
a Sappony Indian from North Carolina and has lived in East Tennessee
for the
past 28 years. Robert
is active at the
Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, school classrooms and Scout functions where
he
lectures and presents programs on the Cherokee Indians, the History of
Tennessee from a Cherokee Perspective and the Cultural Differences of
Native
Americans Throughout North America. He reenacts the early 1800s
Cherokee around
the time of Sequoyah. Robert is also an enthusiastic storyteller at
Native
Powwows and gatherings.
